The Role:

Wallaby is a 51 bed ward, in which medically stable children requiring daily/twice daily acute care interventions can complete their admission at home. Whilst at home, children are visited and cared for by a team of qualified RCH medical and allied health staff who communicate regularly with the child's primary treating medical unit. 


Wallaby provides a Victoria-wide service and we pride ourselves in being one of Victoria's leading hospital-in-the-home programs and strive to utilise new technologies and ideas to improve our delivery of care. Employees provide care for children within a 60 km radius of Melbourne. The Wallaby team will keep in regular contact with the regional service providers and ensure the treating RCH medical unit are updated about the child's care.


As the Associate Nurse Unit Manager you will support the Nurse Unit Manager by providing management of and leadership to staff, ensuring that clinical practice and delivery of care provided by staff is consistent with RCH and Australian Nurses and Midwifery Council standards through comprehensive, safe and evidence-based practice to facilitate optimal health outcomes. 


To be successful in this role you will have:


  • Well-developed leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills – verbally and written
  • Nursing AHPRA registration
