Senior Registrars - Neonatal and Infant Retrieval – Melbourne AUSTRALIA

Applications are now open for full time or part time positions for 6 or 12 months with the Paediatric Infant and Perinatal Emergency Retrieval (PIPER) service commencing February or August 2020.


These positions are suitable for senior trainees with a minimum of 6-9 months experience in a tertiary Australian Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or equivalent. Senior trainees with PICU, Anaesthetic or Emergency experience may also be suitable and are encouraged to discuss their suitability with the Director.

PIPER Neonatal undertakes 1400 emergency neonatal retrievals per year, by road or air.  Training in neonatal and infant emergency transport and neonatology is provided and research is supported and encouraged.


PIPER Neonatal is collocated with the PIPER paediatric retrieval service and the perinatal emergency referral service within the new Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH).  Excellent relationships between PIPER and Royal Women’s, the RCH, Monash Children’s, Mercy Hospital for Women and Western hospital allows Medical Retrieval Clinicians access to the extensive academic and clinical resources of these hospitals.  For applicants who are Australian subspecialty neonatal trainees there is the option of being jointly interviewed for retrieval and NICU posts across Melbourne in accordance with training needs.  At present applications for NICU posts still need to be via the individual NICU hospital recruitment process.
