Employment:  Part time, Ongoing 

Salary:            $98,800.00 per annum (pro-rata)

Location:         Parkville – Hub of the medical precinct and leading Children’s hospital

The department:

Wallaby is a 51 bed ward, in which medically stable children requiring daily/twice daily acute care interventions can complete their admission at home. Whilst at home, children are visited and cared for by a team of qualified RCH medical, nursing and allied health staff who communicate regularly with the child's primary treating medical unit. 

 

Wallaby provides a Victoria-wide service and we pride ourselves in being one of Victoria's leading hospital-in-the-home programs and strive to utilise new technologies and ideas to improve our delivery of care. Employees provide care for children within a 60 km radius of Melbourne. The Wallaby team will keep in regular contact with the regional service providers and ensure the treating RCH medical unit are updated about the child's care.

 

The role:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to join the Wallaby Ward as a Nurse Coordinator.  The role is in a multidisciplinary team and includes utilising and sharing specialist knowledge, skills and the essence of nursing to improve access, flow and the discharge of patients through RCH.

 

The Nurse Co-ordinator will provide education to patients and their families, ward nurses and members of the multidisciplinary team on organisational process which facilitate the delivery of timely, clinically appropriate treatment to ensure achievement of agreed discharge planning dates. The role will engage and empower nurses to act on the agreed discharge plans.

 

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Post Graduate qualification or willing to work towards (desirable).
  • Extensive Paediatric experience and an interest in infant health.
  • Demonstrated experience providing effective education to patients and their families, nurses and/or members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • A current,  full drivers licence for the State of Victoria which is appropriate for the type of vehicle being driven, and comply with any restrictions on their licence (e.g. wearing glasses) while undertaking hospital duties
