The Role:

 

An experienced and reliable pharmacy technician is required to work full days on Thursdays and Fridays, within the RCH Children’s Cancer Centre pharmacy department. The successful applicant will become a part of the oncology pharmacy team, and will need to liaise and cooperate closely with other staff.

 

An additional day per week will be available for up to 2 years initially, then to be further negotiated. This will be worked in the general, non-oncology pharmacy area.

 

Primary duties will involve assistance with dispensing, both sterile and non-sterile manufacturing, maintaining appropriate records and completing daily distribution tasks.

 

Participation in all other pharmacy technician work and contribution to pharmacy patient services is expected, including weekend and overtime allocation.

 

Major focus on Children’s Cancer Centre Pharmacy duties. Additional general tasks, including impresting.

 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Broad experience as a hospital pharmacy technician. 
  • Specific experience within the oncology specialty. 
  • Experience and/or certification in sterile manufacturing. While not mandatory, this will be highly regarded, as will certification in cytotoxic product preparation. 
  • A nationally recognised pharmacy technician qualification, such as a Certificate 3 or 4 in Hospital/Health Services-Pharmacy Support. This is highly desirable.
  • Enthusiasm and dedication, with an adaptable approach to providing best-outcome patient care. 
  • Proven reliability, accuracy and attention to detail. 
  • An independent approach.
