The Role:

A part time, fixed term Consultant Paediatrician is required for the WADJA clinic.  The WADJA Aboriginal Family Place provides an outpatient service for Aboriginal children by providing comprehensive paediatric assessments undertaken collaboratively with Aboriginal staff from the preventative perspective ; delivered with social, emotional and cultural issues considered.  The medical service delivery from WADJA sits under the governance of the Department of General Medicine.

 

You will be responsible for:

  • Provision of paediatric medical assessments for patients attending the WADJA Health clinic
  • A collaborative approach to assessing Aboriginal children with an Aboriginal Case Manager, considering social, cultural, emotional, medical and developmental needs, and develop an individual treatment/management plan
  • Promoting a holistic approach to health care, which encompasses spiritual, physical, emotional and mental wellbeing in keeping with Koori cultural values
  • Providing consultation to RCH and community medical staff on the management of Aboriginal children

 

You will have:   

  • Demonstrated capacity to work harmoniously and collaboratively within a small team
  • FRACP or equivalent
  • AHPRA Specialist Registration 
  • Eligible for medical registration within Victoria
  • Relevant professional experience in a healthcare or child and family services setting
  • A demonstrated sound knowledge of Koori culture and values
  • Demonstrated competency in assessing social and emotional needs, making referrals and planning support services appropriate to the identified needs
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
