Position Title 2021 Paediatric Surgical Senior Registrar
Employment Type Fixed Term
Location 50 Flemington Road
Position Summary

Applications from international medical graduates are now open for the position of Senior Surgical Registrar in the Department of Paediatric Surgery in 2021. The positions have a negotiable start date of August to October 2021 and are for a 12 month period.

This position has the opportunity to be involved in a range of paediatric surgical specialities including trauma, burns, urology, oncology hepatobiliary, thoracic, neonatal and transplant surgery. Working in one of the busiest paediatric surgical service in Australasia, the role of Senior Surgical Registrar is a demanding one, but provides great exposure to a wide variety of paediatric surgical conditions and an opportunity to enhance one’s surgical training. There are multiple opportunities for both clinical research and teaching of undergraduate and junior staff. This is a great platform for future paediatric surgeons and urologists to progress their career in their home country.

The position is most suitable for a Senior Trainee, ideally in the year prior or following their Fellowship examination.

Applications close on Friday May 8th 2020. All applications received will be considered and short listed candidates will be offered an interview. All interviews will be conducted by videoconference. At the completion of the interview process, successful candidates will be notified as soon as referee checks are completed. This is to provide sufficient time for each candidate to complete the lengthy immigration process associated with working in Australia.

Applicants must be able to satisfy the English Language requirements for medical registration in Australia in order to be offered a position. It will be a significant advantage for applicants to have completed these requirements prior to interview. Information about these requirements can be found on the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency at https://www.ahpra.gov.au/registration/registration-standards/english-language-skills.aspx. Documentation of participation in skills courses such as APLS and ATLS, clinical training and research should be included in the application.

Because of the limited number of positions available, we regret that we are often unable to offer positions to excellent candidates. All unsuccessful applicants will receive prompt written communication of their failure to progress. We are very happy for unsuccessful candidates to apply again in the following year.

The following documents are required on application
