    The Role:

    This is position within the Department of Dentistry and one that works closely with the Director and other specialists in the provision of oral healthcare services to children and their families. The successful applicant has a responsibility to ensure that the high quality oral health care traditionally provided by the Royal Children’s Hospital to its patients is maintained. In addition to providing direct clinical care to the children eligible to be seen in the Department of Dentistry the post holder will also take shared responsibility for the maintenance of paediatric dentistry services throughout the Royal Children’s Hospital.

     

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • A basic Degree in Dental Science or international equivalent that is registrable with the Australian Health Practitioners Registration Authority
    • Successfully completed a three year Masters or Clinical Doctorate program in paediatric dentistry or international equivalent. Such a training program is expected to conform to the Australasian Academy of Paediatric Dentistry Guidelines for specialist training
    • To have extensive experience in treating young children with complex medical conditions under LA, nitrous oxide sedation and GA
    • To have experience in hospital dentistry including the management of medically compromised children, children with special needs, oro-facial anomalies and emergency management of acute dento-alveolar trauma
    • Previous experience of clinical teaching would be desirable.

    You will have:

    • Excellent professional skills with the ability to build and manage key relationships across the organisation and ensuring a high level of specialist dental care to patients of the department;
    • Demonstrated ability to cooperate and work well with others in the pursuit of team goals;
    • Excellent organisational skills and a flexible approach, including the ability to work independently, exercise initiative and discretion with patient care;
