Medical Laboratory Technician – Anatomical Pathology 

  • Part Time / Ongoing  (0.4 EFT, 15  hours per week)

The Role:

We currently have a part-time, ongoing vacancy for a Medical Laboratory Technician.

Anatomical Pathology, within the department of Laboratory Services, provides a full diagnostic service for routine histopathological examination as well as specialised services such as frozen sections, fine needle aspiration, post mortem and electron microscopy to both the Royal Children’s Hospital and the Royal Women’s Hospital.


The Medical Laboratory Technician will perform laboratory and clerical duties within the Anatomical Pathology Department tasks under the supervision and direction of the Department Manager/Scientist in Charge.  The successful candidate will have a Diploma in Laboratory Science and experience in a diagnostic laboratory.


The successful candidate will bring strong team work skills, be an excellent communicator and enjoy working in a fast paced environment.


To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Diploma in Laboratory Science
  • Experience in in a diagnostic Anatomical Pathology laboratory
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to work individually and also as an effective team member
  • Have a positive and flexible approach to a busy workload with time management and prioritising skills
