The Role:

An opportunity exists for a permanent, full-time Grade 2 Health Information Manager (part-time considered) to join our Health Information Services team at The Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with our electronic medical record (EMR) system which our hospital successfully implemented in April 2016.


We are seeking an enthusiastic Health Information Manager, preferably with coding experience, an aptitude for quality and high regard for detail to take on this role. This role primarily involves coding inpatient episodes in an accurate and timely manner, as well as assisting with the development of forms and RCH EMR Portal requests, and other non-coding related tasks.

The successful incumbent will be highly organised, innovative, have good presentation and time management skills, attention to detail and problem solving abilities.


It is essential to have a qualification in Health Information Management or equivalent. Experience in coding preferred but not essential.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience working autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Ability to coordinate tasks, set priorities and work to timelines
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff
  • Professional manner in dealing with both internal and external staff
  • Competent level of computer/web skills
