Position Summary

PAEDIATRIC NEUROSURGICAL FELLOW FULL TIME 2020.

 

The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) in Melbourne is a leading provider of specialist public health services for children and adolescents and is the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria. Specialist care is also provided for children from Tasmania and southern New South Wales as well as other states around Australia and overseas.

 

RCH has an international reputation as a centre of clinical excellence and is a statewide teaching, training and research hospital providing tertiary, secondary and primary infant, child and adolescent health services.

 

The Department of Neurosurgery operates within the RCH providing neurosurgical care to children and is actively involved in training, education and research.

 

The RCH is seeking applications for the position of Neurosurgical Fellow (1.0EFT) for a period of one year commencing 3/02/2020. 2 positions are available. In conjunction with current staff, the successful applicant will provide inpatient and outpatient neurosurgical care to children. The role of the Neurosurgery Fellow is to develop diagnostic and operative skills in paediatric neurosurgery through the care of neurosurgical patients and their families both in the wards, outpatient setting and in the operating theatres. Participation in the after hours neurosurgery emergency care roster is expected. The appointee will be encouraged to be involved in departmental education and research.

 

The appointee will ensure all services are maintained and delivered in line with the RCH-wide philosophy and culture of patient and family centered care, vision and values.

 

Applicants must be legally qualified medical practitioners registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency  - or for international graduates must be able to fulfill the requirements for Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency registration. The minimum qualification is MBBS or equivalent.

Preference will be given to applicants that have completed Neurosurgical training at an equivalent of the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons – Neurosurgery. Applicants without the above training but with an interest in neurosurgery may also be considered.
