The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) provides secondary and tertiary care to children and young people across the northern and western suburbs; specialist paediatric healthcare to the children of Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and parts of South Australia; and is the designated state-wide provider of services including paediatric trauma, rehabilitation and forensic medicine. As a quaternary centre for complex cardiac surgery and organ transplantation, the RCH cares for the sickest children from around Australia.

The Position:

Working with RCH Casual Bank provides flexible employment and opportunity for professional development across a range of general and specialty areas.

 

The Casual Registered Nurse is a skilled paediatric nurse who is required to work across various wards throughout the RCH to backfill planned and unplanned leave. RN’s are responsible for ensuring that clinical practice and delivery of care is consistent with RCH and Australian Nurses and Midwifery Council standards, by providing comprehensive, safe, evidence-based practice to facilitate optimal health outcomes.

 

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and autonomously as required
  • Effective time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible to changing priorities and environment.
  • Ability to hit the ground running
  • Commitment to working a minimum of 2 shifts per week
  • Commitment to your professional development and achievement of clinical competencies
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience (paediatric experience desirable)
  • Flexibility and availability for shifts across wards will be highly valued
