Two six months positions are available, commencing 3rd August 2020. These positions are suitable for those wishing to consolidate their paediatric anaesthesia skills and ultimately work in a general hospital environment where healthy children undergo surgery and anaesthesia. These positions may also be suitable for anaesthetists who need more specialised paediatric experience before pursuing a career as a specialist paediatric anaesthetist.

The Advanced Paediatric Anaesthesia Training Program includes:

  • general departmental education meeting for ½ hour per week
  • regular evening 1½ hour seminar on selected topics

Advanced trainees will be expected to participate in the out of hours roster.

Applicants must have passed their ANZCA final examination or equivalent by May 2020.

Consideration will be given to anaesthetists who are post ANZCA fellowship provided they can demonstrate a commitment and suitable plan for a career in paediatric anaesthesia.

Candidates applying from outside the ANZCA system will be expected to have a minimum of similar training (ie 4 years of accredited full-time anaesthetic training and completion of basic paediatric anaesthesia training).

Assessment for this position will include personal CV and references as well as the planned application of the paediatric anaesthesia training to the individual’s career path.

Applicants must be currently registered as medical practitioners in Australia, and internationally trained applicants must hold an appropriate visa. Successful applicants must also hold a current Victorian Working with Children Card prior to commencing employment.
