Newborn Intensive Care Unit (Butterfly Ward)

 

Employment:     Part time or full time, Maternity Leave replacement

Salary:               $97,770.40 - $ 101,056.80 per annum (pro-rata)

Location:           Parkville – Hub of the medical precinct & leading Children’s hospital

Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

 

NICU at the RCH reflects excellence, providing services to critically ill babies from throughout Australia. NICU is a 36 bedded Neonatal Intensive Care and High Dependency nursery, flexing up at times of peak demand. We are a Level 6B facility that cares for approximately 850 complex medical and surgical cases each year. 

 

Our dynamic and talented nursing team offer specialist care for critically unwell neonates with complex surgical and medical conditions. As a nurse within our team you should hold or be working towards a post graduate neonatal qualification, we offer an excellent opportunity to consolidate your experience in our busy unit and as a new member of our team you will work through a dedicated induction and education support process in the use of advanced ventilation therapies such as HFOV and HFJV to our patient population.

You will be joining a friendly, motivated and enthusiastic multidisciplinary team within an internationally acclaimed centre of excellence for neonatal care. RCH is focused on supportive flexible working arrangements within the service with a variety of internal rotation 12 hour shift patterns available and have full and part time positions available.

 

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Professional Practice Portfolio (PPP)
  • Post graduate neonatal intensive care nursing certificate
  • Extensive experience working within a neonatal critical care setting
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multidisciplinary team and autonomously as required
  • Effective time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible to changing priorities and environment
