The Royal Children’s Hospital (RCH) provides secondary and tertiary care to children and young people across the northern and western suburbs; specialist paediatric healthcare to the children of Victoria, Tasmania, southern NSW and parts of South Australia; and is the designated statewide provider of services including paediatric trauma, rehabilitation and forensic medicine. As a quarternary centre for complex cardiac surgery and organ transplantation, the RCH cares for the sickest children from around Australia.


A great opportunity is available for an experienced Psychologist or Speech Pathologist to work in a multidisciplinary specialist Autism assessment team assessing and consulting to children, families, and other professionals regarding the diagnosis and management of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).


You will be required to:

  • Work collaboratively with other clinical disciplines to provide high quality multi-disciplinary assessment and consultation around the diagnosis and management of ASD
  • Review referrals and liaise with referrers and families to identify and collect information that may facilitate early diagnosis
  • Provide high quality reports and recommendations about the management of clients with ASD
  • Participate in research undertaken by Specialist Autism Team as required
  • Provide supervision to students as required
  • Provide consultation to other professionals, both internally and externally
  • Keep professional and efficient records both written and electronic


  • Registration with AHPRA (psychologists), or degree or post-graduate qualification in Speech Pathology and eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia (speech pathologists).
  • Experience with multidisciplinary ASD assessments
  • Experience in mentoring, supervising, or training students or other clinicians
  • Experience in paediatric mental health
  • Experience in administering the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule Second Edition (ADOS2) desirable
