The Department

The department of General Medicine is one of the largest departments at RCH, and includes sub-specialty units of Infectious Diseases, Immunisation, Rheumatology, Immigrant Health and Clinical Pharmacology, as well as providing leadership and staffing to the 24 bed Short Stay Unit.  The department provides an inpatient service managed by 18 consultants attached to 4 medical teams, seeing over 6500 admissions per year, in addition to providing outpatient services including General Medicine, Continence, Upper Airways, Emergency Review, Chronic Fatigue and sub-specialty clinics.


The Role

This role will provide an Advanced Trainee/Fellow of the RACP in Paediatrics the opportunity to provide health, developmental, social and emotional assessment of Aboriginal children in a culturally safe setting at the WADJA Health Clinic.  The Fellow’s timetable will allow for ongoing management outside the hospital through an interdisciplinary approach with VACCA staff and other community agencies.  This approach to training provides the Fellow with direct experience with indigenous colleagues, patients, families and organisations.


Please note the successful applicant must undergo a Police and Working with Children Check. In addition, all International Medical Graduate applicants will need to refer to the AHPRA website to ensure they have passed the necessary English language test https://www.ahpra.gov.au/Registration/Registration-Standards/English-language-skills.aspx


To be successful in this role you will have:

  • MBBS or equivalent
  • AHPRA registration
  • Eligibility for registration in Victoria
  • RACP exams completed (Advanced Paediatric Trainee), with preference given to applicants who have completed their advanced training)
