The Role:

The oncofertility coordinator will provide and improve service provision for children receiving gonadotoxic therapy and their families at inpatient and outpatient levels. This role requires special skills in communication for the care of families of children diagnosed with cancer. This role promotes continuity of care by actively facilitating and coordinating patient care across multiple RCH departments from diagnosis through to follow-up. This role will assist staff to implement a planned approach to discussing fertility risks and fertility preservation options with all appropriate patients and guiding patient care through the RCH fertility pathway. This will involve working in partnerships with families of children receiving gonadotoxic therapy to deliver oncofertility care, focusing on interdisciplinary collaboration and communication with staff involved in their care, and seeing patients during follow-up.


To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Professional  degree in relevant discipline (e.g. nursing, social work, occupational therapy, psychology or genetic counselling)
  • Current Registration with appropriate professional body
  • Experience working in a hospital environment and/or with children with acute, chronic and serious medical conditions, and their families.
  • Previous experience in coordinating multiple services and staff
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Graduate certificate, Graduate diploma, Masters or PhD in relevant specialty or willing to work towards (desirable)
