The Royal Children's Hospital (RCH) Melbourne is one of the world's great children's hospitals. We are the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria and our care extends to children from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas.


We currently have a part time, ongoing Grade 2 Educational Play Therapist vacancy at The Royal Children's Hospital.


We are looking for a suitably qualified Educational Play Therapist to co-ordinate and deliver our ED program.  The position requires the candidate to work Tuesday to Friday from 1.30pm - 9pm as part of the RCH Emergency Department Team.  The position will also provide some back up cover to our Medical Imaging Play Therapist as required. Previous hospital play therapy/child life experience is essential.

Selection Criteria Essential: A minimum of two years Educational Play Therapy/Hospital Play Specialist or Child Life experience is essential.
Essential: A minimum of 5 years continuous and relevant work experience is essential in a relevant discipline (Teaching and/or Educational Play Therapy).
Essential: Recognised tertiary qualifications in Early Childhood Education; Primary Education or Health Science with a major focus on child development and play based learning.
Essential: Evidence of eligibility for membership/registration of the Discipline association either VIT, VECTA, AACLT and/or Child Life.
Essential: Experience in supervision and line management of staff is essential.
Desirable: Experience of working as a hospital play specialist/Child Life Therapist in an ED environment
Essential: Must be available to work evenings (1.30-9pm Tuesday-Friday inclusive)
