The Role:

The Assistant Manager (AM) is responsible for the supervision and co-ordination of the sterilization and distribution service to the Hospital. The AM will facilitate, coordinate and assist with the education and assessment of the performance of duties by the Instrument Technicians in conjunction with the CSSD manager. The AM will assist the manager in implementing quality improvements and be involved in the change management process if required.  


To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Experience in the supervision and management of staff
  • Registered Nurse preferably with a minimum of two years perioperative or sterilizing experience with a Certificate in Infection Control & Sterilization or willingness to work towards achieving this Qualification  OR
  • An instrument technician with a minimum 5 years’ experience and a certificate 4 in sterilization  and/or and Instrument technician with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the supervision and management of staff
  • High level Knowledge of surgical instrumentation
  • High level Knowledge of sterilization procedures and practices
