The Role:

Wallaby provides a Victoria-wide service and we pride ourselves on being one of Victoria's leading hospital-in-the-home programs and strive to utilise new technologies and ideas to improve our delivery of care. Our staff provide care for children within a 40 km radius of Melbourne. The Wallaby team will keep in regular contact with the regional service providers and ensure the treating RCH medical unit are updated about the child's care.

As the Maternal and Child Health Nurse you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide expert comprehensive clinical assessment and intervention for infants and very young children experiencing a range of regulatory and feeding disorders including irritability, feeding refusal, failure to thrive and infants with nasogastric tube dependence.

Please note that this is not considered a management or team leader position; you will however work as part of a collaborative team providing leadership as the ‘subject matter expert’ in maternal child and health nursing for Wallaby staff.

We are therefore seeking candidates with excellent clinical skills who are looking to expand on their experience through collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams in a world-class children’s hospital. This is an opportunity to develop a new service delivery model, ensure quality and service improvements to Wallaby patients, and provide advice and expertise on clinical assessment and intervention.  This is also a great opportunity to profile Maternal Child & Health Nursing within the wider hospital.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
  • Recent experience in an paediatric or community nursing or MCH nursing, two years or more
  • Evidence of on-going professional development as reflected in Professional Practice Portfolio.
