The department:

The Butterfly Unit at the RCH reflects excellence, providing services to critically ill babies from Tasmania, Victoria and southern New South Wales. The Butterfly ward is a 35 bed Neonatal Intensive care unit and Special care nursery, flexing up at times of peak demand. We are a level 6 facility that cares for approximately >1000 complex medical and surgical cases each year. 

 

 

The position:

The role of the ANUM is to assist the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in the planning and delivering of high quality care and customer service to each patient and family admitted to the Butterfly unit. The ANUM will provide leadership through strong clinical knowledge and support to team members.  The direct clinical role will involve providing direct clinical support as well as education to ensure excellence in service provision throughout the department. The ANUM will ensure that clinical practice and delivery of care is consistent with RCH and Australian Nurses and Midwifery Council standards, by providing comprehensive, safe, evidence-based practice to facilitate optimal health outcomes.

 

To be successful in the role, you will have:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA)
  • Post Graduate qualification desirable
  • Extensive post registration experience with demonstrated experience in providing nursing care and treatment to the diagnostic groupings within the ward.
  • Demonstrated understanding of processes to improve patient access to service and flow through an organisation
